Survivor title compromises with character deletion
I came up with an idea that I believe would be a good compromise for the survivor title that would make most people happy. Or so I hope.
What if it could be implemented that we can re-roll characters without deleting them? That way if you die, you can restart the character but not lose the hours (for birthdays and such) for which that character has been created.
If there are others like me who simply can't bear to delete characters I think this would be the perfect solution. This would basically be the same character, but it is completely restarted, almost as if it had been deleted.
What are your opinions? Any further suggestions to this idea are of course appreciated as well.

What happens to the quests the character has completed, the towns he/she visited, and items owned?

Are you saying that everything would be deleted EXCEPT for the logged hours played on that character? I guess that would work. Obviously it wouldn't be fair to get max armor, re-roll and start in Pre with max armor and the such. But ya I guess it could work.

Look, a QQ thread.
A title is not mandatory. It is optional. It is up to you whether you want to suffer through trying to get Survivor.
If you can't bear with deleting your character, MAKE A NEW ONE IN ANOTHER SLOT.
Next will you protest because non-Prophecies chars don't get a chance to earn Defender of Ascalon?
Seriously, they're TITLES.
This board needs a smiley rolling it's eyes. It'd be the most used smiley on here. Someone would probably ask for it to be nerfed though.

I personally think that if:
1. It's a complete re-roll with the same name, it's essentially remaking a new character. Well, it helps with birthdays but it'll be too easy for people to farm b-day presents.
2. If the character keeps the items, it'll be bringing Post-Searing material into Pre-Searing.
3. If the character keeps the quests/map markers, it'll make it even easier to farm Survivor by HFFF.
It certainly would be a sound idea if it didn't come in conflict with few mechanics of GW.
Toastgodsupreme, this thread really don't need a big annoying smiley or a useless and rude post with a big annoying smiley in it.

Well to me you need to be more careful ... I would rather Anet concentrates on GW 2 over adding some silly fix to save your survivor title.. I hate all the grinding you have to do get to said title but hey sometimes we have to work for what we want ...
It would also take away from the title itself.. If you get a resest then you tarnish the title hense the name .. Good luck on your quest ...

just make it so that you can restart/start survivor title for a fee at some new NPC(100k if you didn't previously had it but want to start it and 50k if you had it and failed in the middle?).

to toastgodsupreme...
actually this is not a QQ thread as I have never gone after a title and never plan to. Survivor just seems to be the thing under discussion at the moment and it's an idea that came to me in the shower this morning so I thought i'd share it.
To clarify for all the others, yes the idea is that absolutely EVERYTHING is removed from the character. You have a choice whether you want to re-roll. If you want to keep your items, quests, maps etc..quite simple, keep the character.
I don't get the birthday present farming thing...birthdays only happen once a year, and I doubt the game will survive for much longer than two more presents due to the release of GW2... (although this could still end up surprising me). Stc95 pretty much had it in a nutshell. It is completely starting the character again, except for the logged hours.
It just seemed to me that most of the argument was over the amount of time you have actually had the character, and people didn't want a reset of the timer on an old character because 'they did it without.' This way it's essentially a brand new character, but you keep your hours, and can't change appearance, name etc...

Re-roll in GW is as senseless as deleting a character to make another with the same name and profession.
In GW you don't re-roll, you change builds and attributes.
The attribute point buy system is no longer in the game.
The skills are no longer gems.
You no longer need to talk to Professin changes anytime you want to change professions.
The only thing we need in th game is the ability to go back to the three basic training areas you can be only once now, changing appearance, and retry the two titles that can be halted upon progress.
Changing the character after being made is the way to go, not re-rolls, not deletion.

/agree with this guy
There needs to be some way that the pre-Survivor title characters can have a shot at Survivor. I hate being punished by an unattainable title simply because my character is 3 years old.
